My mom and I started celebrating Litha the afternoon before the Summer Solstice. It is traditional to leave something out for the fairies on Midsummer’s Eve, so I made tiny oatmeal cookies and my mom cut little squares from a brownie:
We had found a miniature tea set decorated with sunflowers at our local thrift store, so we set it up on a tray to take outside. It didn’t come with plates, so we made some out of stiff paper and gold foil. I added vegan sugar to the sugar bowl and soy milk to the creamer while my mom made tea for the teapot!
It was so cute!
Then we went outside to wait for the sunset. We found a toadstool and watched the fireflies while we waited. It was really hard to get a photo of the firefly lights, but they were twinkling all over our yard and looked like little fairy lights!
We set out our tray for the fairies near some flowers:
The sky was full of clouds but the sunset was still beautiful:
We went back inside and tried the new blueberry cardamom So Delicious vegan ice cream! It wasn’t as strongly flavored as I would have liked, but was still pretty good.
It is a pretty color!
We ate our ice cream cones while we watched the sunrise at Stonehenge and Glastonbury Tor live online. I was able to get a few screenshots while we watched. This one is my favorite from Stonehenge:
Glastonbury Tor had more going on, and we really liked the music!
Finally, we made movie theater-style popcorn and watched A Midsummer Night’s Dream!
We wished the fairies a lovely Midsummer’s Eve and then went to bed so we could be up for our own sunrise in the morning!
