These candied walnuts are sweet and crunchy with a hint of salt. They are great for snacking, topping salads, or on a sundae, and you only need a few ingredients to make them!
Add the vegan brown sugar, salt, water, and Earth Balance to a small saucepan:
Whisking constantly, heat on medium to melt the Earth Balance and dissolve the sugar. Then, bring the syrup to a boil, and boil for one minute:
Add the walnuts and gently toss to coat them with the syrup
Scrape the walnuts out onto your prepared pan, and spread them out evenly in a single layer:
Pour the remaining syrup over the nuts. It will not be thick enough to stick yet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit:
Remove from the oven and stir. The syrup will still be pretty thin. Put the nuts back in the oven for six minutes:
Remove from the oven and stir again. Now the syrup is getting thicker and will start to stick. Put the nuts back in the oven for a final six minutes:
Remove from the oven, and do not stir this time! Spread the hot walnuts out on a parchment-lined cooling rack, and allow to cool completely. Once cooled, transfer them to an airtight container.

- 75 g (1/3 c packed) Vegan Light Brown Sugar
- 1.6 g (1/4 tsp) Salt
- 45 g (3 TBS) Water
- 9 g (2 tsp) Earth Balance Spread
