Brigid’s Grove is a wonderful little company that makes original god and goddess sculptures, ceremony kits, and mother blessing gifts. Molly and Mark Remer work together in this lovely business, and Molly also runs the Creative Spirit Circle group on Facebook. A friend gave me this beautiful goddess from Brigid’s Grove last year, and I keep her on my altar in my bedroom.
I wanted to create a simple altar for my work space too, and I knew I wanted to incorporate another goddess from Brigid’s Grove. I looked on their Etsy shop and found a god and goddess that were perfect for my display. They come packaged in pretty, reusable bags:
This is the Harvest Story God Sculpture:
And this is the Gaia Story Goddess Sculpture:
They are really well made and look great together!
I wanted an altar in my work space, but needed it to not take up any of that space! I found a display shelf at a thrift store and it was perfect for a simple altar that I could hang on a wall. I arranged items on the shelf as if it were a pentagram. The pentagram is very important in Wicca because it is a symbol of the five elements. The top point represents Spirit, and the other four represent air, fire, water, and earth. Note that while Spirit is always at the top, I have seen the other four elements in different orders. This is just the order that I prefer:
For me, the God and Goddess represent the Spirit and power of nature:
A feather my mom found in our yard represents air:
A candle represents fire:
A shell found on a beach represents water:
And, a pinecone and acorn represent the earth:
I also included some crystals and a smudge stick, and my simple altar is complete. I love how it turned out, and the god and goddess sculptures are the perfect focal point!
